... was said in 2019 (by Wikipedia) to have been the world's busiest airport, in terms of passenger numbers, since the year 2000. In terms of number of take–offs and landings it had been the busiest every year since 2005, except 2014 when it was second to Chicago's O'Hare Internatonal.
In 2018, according to preliminary figures, London Heathrow was the world's seventh busiest airport by passenger numbers, after Hartsfield–Jackson, Beijing Capital, Dubai International, Los Angeles International, Tokyo Haneda, and O'Hare.
Wikipedia now says that "Since 1998, Hartsfield–Jackson has been the world's busiest airport by passenger traffic, with the exception of 2020, when its passenger traffic dipped for that year due to travel restrictions resulting from the COVID–19 pandemic. In 2023, the airport served over 104.6 million passengers, the most of any airport in the world. Hartsfield–Jackson is also the world's busiest airport by aircraft movements. In 2024, it was again named the busiest airport in the world, and saw 2% more capacity than the previous year."
